I love being a women! It’s so much fun! We get to conquer the world and look fabulous doing it! Every women deserve to feel beautiful and be confident no matter what. This is why The Beauty of Giving: Beauty & Cosmetic Donation Drive is so important.
How did this idea come to life, you may ask….?!?! Well, one Sunday morning about a month ago, my friend Annisa came to visit me here in Baltimore to attend church with me. After church we went to C & R Pub to grab lunch. While at lunch we just started talking about our hopes, dreams, and aspirations. We talked about how we wanted to expand our blogs to reach more people. Our lunch literally turned in to a mid-day brainstorming session.
Anissa is a DMV based beauty blogger and I blog about Baltimore. At first glance we don’t seem to have much in common when it comes to our blogs, but what we wanted to do with our blog is where we found common ground. We both knew that we wanted to use our blogs to do good within our community. We both wanted to make sure we spent time doing outreach projects to service our community.
Right-then-and-there we decided to collaborate and do some type of charity event. It came to us so easily once we started spitting ideas out freely.
-We are women.
-We thought about what our common interest were.
-We both like fashion and beauty.
-We knew that other young professional women would most like have the same interest in fashion and beauty as we do.
-We thought about how to turn that into a project.
-We thought about women in general and the process we go through in the morning to get ready to step out in a sometimes hectic world.
Sometimes waking up, and getting glamourous is the best part of the day! LOL Every women deserves that luxury. We all need a little lipstick sometimes.
With that statement it CLICKED! We have to help women who are in transition. We knew that a mother that did not have much money probably was not buying beauty products when her children need food and clothes.
Through research, we found Sarah’s Hope. All donations will be given to this organization. Below is a little info about Sarah’s Hope.
*** Sarah’s Hope provides 24-hour emergency shelter, case management and other support services for homeless women with children in the Sandtown-Winchester area of Baltimore City.
On-site services include: intensive case management, three meals a day plus snacks, service linkage, life skills training, parenting classes, employment readiness classes, health screenings, public school enrollment and child and youth services and activities (to name a few).
Sarah’s Hope provides immediate stabilization to homeless families while striving to preserve the family unit. The program aims to have families quickly regain permanent housing and enables them to achieve long-term self-sufficiency.
Generally, our breakdown is 30-35 women and 40-45 children, but these numbers fluctuate. Any new donations of makeup, feminine hygiene products, body wash, etc. are greatly appreciated as many of our residents obtain employment during their stay here at Sarah’s Hope. ***
