…choose to get up, get out, show up, and let a little joy in.

Wow, the first week of December zoomed by. Before the rest of the month disappears in the blink of an eye, this feels like the perfect moment to pause, take a breath, and think about what the rest of December could look like. And be real with yourself. This time of year is going to look different from any other season, and that’s ok. Routines get thrown off, schedules get messy, energy dips and rises without warning. Give yourself grace this month. January is right around the corner, and we’ll reset when we get there.

We all know how December goes. You can plan, organize, make lists, color-code your calendar (my current obsession)… and still, things will pop up and throw everything out of whack! But these invitations, last-minute plans, fun surprises, random opportunities can end up being the best part of the season. If you’re feeling good, say yes. Participate. Let yourself live a little.
Don’t miss the chance to meet new people or reconnect with folks who make you feel good. Go laugh. Try a new place. Let yourself soak up as much holiday joy as you can. Play the music, set the vibe, and enjoy the moment. Life is heavy, and so much is happening in the world that we can’t control. But we can choose to get up, get out, show up, and let a little joy in.
And if you catch yourself smiling at a stranger while you’re out here doing life… even better.

A Thought to Leave You With:
If you’re thinking it’s too late to host something for the holidays, it’s really not. You just need to keep it simple and a little unique.
Consider hosting a casual open house on a Saturday or Sunday morning from 9am to 12pm. Nothing fancy. Just an easy drop in where people can stop by for coffee, tea, a mimosa, and a yummy baked treat from a local small business. Add some fruit, play holiday music, light a candle, and hand out a holiday card with a candy cane. That’s it.
People can swing through before running errands or heading to other obligations. You’re creating the joy you want without overwhelming yourself. And remember, not everyone will make it… but if even one person comes, that’s amazing. Use a simple app to collect RSVPs so you know how much to pick up, and enjoy the moment.
Keep it light. Keep it easy. Make it yours.

Until Next Time…
xoxo
